Taking Back Sunday Reveal New Track “You Can’t Look Back” – Plus All We Know About The New Album So Far

It’s insane and brilliant from all angles to be on the brink of a seventh…we’ll just say that again….SEVENTH album from Taking Back Sunday. Although they’re not the only band of their generation to still be knocking about, they are by far one of the most relentless, interchangeable and progressive with their sound.

The last two releases ‘Happiness Is‘ (2014) and the self-titled ‘Taking Back Sunday‘ (2011) saw vast style differences and influences compared to their timeless early work and even to their third and forth albums. Not only this, they have had some band member switches along to way too. They seem to be unstoppable, and if previous history is anything to go by we can tell you for free that we are damn excited.

The new album ‘Tidal Wave‘ will drop on 16th September on Hopeless Records, and here’s what we know so far.

⚡   The title ‘Tidal Wave’ is taken from the previous single of the same name. Adam spoke to Entertainment Weekly back in June this year and stated,

“Even throughout each song on the record there are a lot of references to water, that’s why it seems like that title kept poking its neck out.”

You can read that interview over at EW

⚡   The album has a lot more American rock influences. In the same interview Lazzara explains how the new album is influenced a lot more by classic American rock, such as Tom Petty and Bryan Adams.

⚡   New track ‘Can’t Look Back‘ and it’s corresponding music video were released on 23rd August by Hopeless Records. Oh boy is it different!

It seems some people are not too keen on the more Americana-sounding vibe that runs through the new material. In all honesty, when we first heard it we thought it could be a Bon Jovi cover. The similarities to Don Henley’s ‘Boys of Summer’ are remarkable.

You can check out ‘Can’t Look Back’ below.

⚡   Tidal Wave can be pre-ordered in the UK from Banquet Records. The artwork is pretty interesting.
